What a Pinterest font generator can style

Pinterest doesn't offer font choices for any text field. Your profile name, About section, board names, pin titles and descriptions all display in Pinterest's standard font. A font generator gets around that by swapping your letters for styled Unicode characters, which Pinterest treats as ordinary text.

Here's how each field behaves:

  • Profile name: takes styled text. Business accounts show the business name here.
  • About: up to 500 characters (Pinterest Help). A good home for one styled line.
  • Board names and descriptions: take styled text, but they're also part of what people search against (see below).
  • Pin titles and descriptions: titles cap at 100 characters (Pinterest Help). Styling works, with the same search trade-off.
  • Comments: work like anywhere else.
  • Username: doesn't work. Pinterest usernames must be 3 to 30 characters of letters, numbers and underscores (Pinterest Help).

Pinterest fonts by aesthetic

Pinterest accounts usually have a clear look. Match the style to it:

  • Cottagecore and soft aesthetics: Cursive (๐’ž๐“Š๐“‡๐“ˆ๐’พ๐“‹โ„ฏ), Lovely (โ™ก ๐“›๐“ธ๐“ฟ๐“ฎ๐“ต๐”‚ โ™ก) and Flowers (โœฟ ๐˜๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด โœฟ).
  • Minimal and Scandi: Small Caps (แด„แดแดขส สœแดแดแด‡), Sans (๐–ฒ๐–บ๐—‡๐—Œ) and Aesthetic Spaced (A e s t h e t i c).
  • Editorial and bookish: Italic (๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ต) and Bold Italic (๐‘ฉ๐’๐’๐’… ๐‘ฐ๐’•๐’‚๐’๐’Š๐’„).
  • Retro and Y2K: Typewriter (๐šƒ๐šข๐š™๐šŽ๐š ๐š›๐š’๐š๐šŽ๐š›), Wide (๏ฝ–๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ’๏ฝ—๏ฝ๏ฝ–๏ฝ…) and Bubble (โ’ทโ“คโ“‘โ“‘โ“›โ“”).
  • Dark academia and gothic: Gothic (๐”Š๐”ฌ๐”ฑ๐”ฅ๐”ฆ๐” ) and Bold Gothic (๐•ญ๐–”๐–‘๐–‰ ๐•ฒ๐–”๐–™๐–๐–Ž๐–ˆ).
  • Shops and brands: Bold Sans (๐—•๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€) for short labels like ๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช or ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฒ.

The SEO trade-off: Pinterest searches plain words

Pinterest works like a search engine. People type what they want, and Pinterest advises putting relevant keywords in your Pin titles, Pin descriptions, board titles and board descriptions (Pinterest Business Help). A styled word is made of different characters than the plain one, so แด„แดแดขส สœแดแดแด‡ may not match a search for "cozy home".

That decides where fonts belong:

  • Keep keywords plain in pin titles, pin descriptions and board names. If you want flair, add a short styled tag or a โœจ next to the plain words.
  • Spend styling on brand moments: your profile name, the About line, a seasonal board, a pin comment.
  • Lead with plain words. The start of a pin title is what people see first, so put the keyword there.
  • Mind accessibility. Screen readers may read styled letters by their long Unicode names or skip them entirely (Scope). Don't hide key details in a styled font.
  • Test on a phone. Rare characters may show as boxes on older devices.

Not sure which words to keep plain? Pinterest keyword research shows what people actually search for.

Fonts on the pin image matter more

The text people notice first on Pinterest is usually on the pin itself: the headline in the image. That text uses real typefaces from your design tool, so you control the weight, size, color and contrast. Unicode styles have nothing to do with it.

A few guidelines for pin image text:

  • Big headline, few words. Pins are tall and get scanned fast.
  • Two typefaces at most: one for the headline, one for supporting text.
  • High contrast between text and background, so it reads at thumbnail size.
  • Reuse the same fonts and colors across pins so people recognize your brand in the feed.

Pinterest font ideas

Where styled text tends to help on Pinterest, and how to use it without losing search traffic:

Profile name and About

Style your name and keep your topic plain: ๐“”๐“ถ๐“ถ๐“ช ๐“ก๐“ธ๐“ผ๐“ฎ | Small-space decor. People still find you for "small-space decor", and the name carries the personality.

Board names

Keep board names keyword-first and plain. For a board you want to stand out, add a short styled tag at the end, like ๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช, rather than styling the whole name.

Seasonal and campaign boards

Limited-time boards are a good place for a little decoration, such as โœจ around a plain holiday keyword. When the season ends, you can remove the tag and keep the board.

Pin descriptions and comments

Write the description in plain words, then end with a short styled call to action like In comments, a styled word can point people to a link or a related pin.

Make and schedule pins with ViralFarm

ViralFarm schedules and publishes pins to your boards, each with its own title and description, alongside Instagram, TikTok and your other channels. Queue a month of pins in one sitting and let the calendar post them for you.

It also generates the pins. Paste a blog post link or a topic, and ViralFarm writes pin titles and lays the pins out on templates modeled after pins that went viral. You can change brand colors and fonts in the editor before scheduling. Each generated pin uses 1 AI credit, and the free plan includes 20 one-time credits, 2 connected channels and 20 published posts a month, with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use fancy fonts in Pinterest pin titles?

Yes, styled text pastes into pin titles. The catch is search: Pinterest matches the words people type, and styled letters are different characters. Keep the main keyword plain and style a small part of the title, if any.

Do styled board names hurt Pinterest SEO?

They can. Board names are part of the text people search against, so a styled board name may not match a plain search. Lead with plain keywords and add styling only as a short tag.

Can I change the font on Pinterest?

No. Pinterest shows all profile, board and pin text in its own standard font. Generated styles work because they're Unicode characters, not a font setting.

Which fonts work best on pin images?

For text on the image itself, use real typefaces in your design tool: a heavy, simple headline font plus one supporting font, in high contrast. Unicode styles are for the text fields around the pin, not the image.

Can I style my Pinterest username?

No. Pinterest usernames can only use letters, numbers and underscores, and must be 3 to 30 characters long. Style your profile name or About section instead.

Why do some fonts look broken on my phone?

Your phone may not have a glyph for a rarer character, so it draws a box instead. Bold, Italic, Cursive and Small Caps are safe on modern phones. Test unusual styles before using them on a public board.
