TikTok bio limits
TikTok's Help Center caps bios at 80 characters (TikTok Help). That's about half an Instagram bio, which allows 150 (Instagram Help), so every word has to work. A few other profile fields can carry some of the load:
- Bio: up to 80 characters.
- Name (nickname): up to 30 characters, changeable once every 7 days. It shows in the For You feed, in comments and in messages, so it's worth using well (TikTok Help).
- Username: 2 to 24 characters using letters, numbers, underscores and periods, changeable once every 30 days (TikTok Help).
- Website: you can add a website link if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account (TikTok Help).
This generator writes the bio. All five options are 80 characters or fewer, emojis included.
A TikTok bio template that works
Most strong TikTok bios follow the same short pattern: what you post, who it's for, and what to do next. Fill in the blanks:
- "[Topic] for [audience]. New [format] every [day]."
- "[Result] in [time]. Follow for part 2."
- "[Who you are] sharing [what]. [Call to action]."
- "[Credential]. [What you teach]. [Where to get more]."
For example: "5-minute dinners for college students. New recipe every weeknight." That's 66 characters, with room left for an emoji.
Use the generator when you want versions of these templates written for your niche. Type your call to action in the optional box and every bio will end with it.
TikTok bio ideas by account type
What a bio needs to do depends on the account. A few patterns, with sample bios:
Creators and educators
Name the niche and the payoff in one line. "Budget travel hacks that actually work. 40 countries, one backpack." A number gives quick proof.
Brands and shops
Say what you sell and give one reason to care. "Handmade dog collars, built to survive the park." Keep it consistent with your Instagram bio, just shorter.
UGC creators
Your bio is a pitch to brands as much as to viewers. "UGC creator | skincare + home | DM for rates" tells a brand manager what you make and how to reach you.
LIVE streamers
Tell people when to show up. "LIVE Tue + Thu, 8pm ET. Cozy games and chat." A schedule in the bio turns a one-time viewer into a regular.
Comedy and personal accounts
A joke or a strong line of personality is enough. If you play recurring characters, name them so new viewers know what they're in for.
How to make 80 characters go further
- Cut filler. "Hi! Welcome to my page where I post" uses 35 characters to say nothing.
- Use the name field. Your 30-character nickname can carry a keyword. "Maya | Thrift Flips" tells viewers your niche before they reach the bio.
- Use separators. A vertical bar or a single emoji is shorter than "and" or a full sentence.
- Write numbers as digits. "5" is shorter than "five" and easier to spot.
- Skip hashtags. They eat characters you need for the description.
- Pick one call to action. "Follow for part 2" or "Shop below", not both.
TikTok bio mistakes to avoid
- Pasting your Instagram bio. At up to 150 characters, it often won't fit. Cut it down to the one line that matters.
- Pointing to a link you don't have. "Link below" with no link makes viewers think something is broken, and profile links need 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account.
- Outdated promos. A bio still pushing last month's drop or a finished giveaway looks abandoned.
- Being too clever. A joke that only makes sense after 50 videos doesn't help someone who just found you.
- Changing it constantly. Experiment, but give each version a few weeks so you can tell whether it's working.
Pair your bio with a steady posting plan
Your bio tells people what you post. Your next five videos prove it. ViralFarm generates TikTok photo slideshows from a link, a topic or pasted text, using templates modeled after posts that went viral, then schedules them to TikTok with the rest of your channels.
You can edit slides, fonts and brand colors first, and use TikTok's send-to-drafts mode if you'd like to add a sound in the app before posting. Videos and Instagram Reels go out from the same queue. The Free plan includes 2 channels, 20 posts a month and 20 one-time AI credits, no credit card required.
Frequently asked questions
How long can a TikTok bio be?
80 characters, including spaces and emojis. Every option from this generator stays within the limit.
How do I change my TikTok bio?
Go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Bio. Enter the new bio and save it. On a computer, open tiktok.com, go to your profile, click Edit profile and update the Bio field.
Can I put a link in my TikTok bio?
TikTok lets you add a website link to your profile if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. Until then, your bio can point people to your name on another platform instead.
Should I use hashtags in my TikTok bio?
Usually not. With only 80 characters, a hashtag takes space you need to explain what you post. Put hashtags in your captions instead.
What's a good TikTok bio template?
"[Topic] for [audience]. New [format] every [day]." is a reliable start. Fill in your niche, who it helps and how often you post, then add one call to action if there is room.
How often should I change my TikTok bio?
When your focus or offer changes, or when you're testing a new angle. Give each version a few weeks so you can see whether profile visits turn into follows.
Is the TikTok bio generator free?
Yes. No sign-up or credit card, with a daily limit per visitor.
